<p>        August 17, 1925 - Carter Stanley was born in Big Spraddle Creek, VA, near
Stratton, Dickenson County, VA to Lee and Lucy Stanley.
</p>
<p>        February 25, 1927 Ralph Stanley was born in Big Spraddle Creek, Virginia, near 
Stratton, Dickenson County, VA to Lee and Lucy Stanley.</p>
<p>        Performed together as the Stanley Brothers
with their band, the Clinch Mountain Boys from 1946-1966.
</p>
<p>        Ralph learned to play the banjo claw-hammer style 
from his mother.
</p>
<p>        Their harmonies are much admired, and many consider
Carter Stanley to be one of the greatest singers in the history of country music. 
</p>
<p>        In 1992, they were inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Honor, 
managed by the International Bluegrass Music Association.
</p>
<p>        Carter died on December 1, 1966 at age 41.</p>
